Welcome to Shoops Cemetery, we are governed by a Board of Directors which consists of at least five members who are also lot owners in the cemetery. Shoops is the final resting place for many of Colonial Park’s most influential citizens including the founder of Colonial Park, Elmer Ehler. We have many graves dating back to the late 1700s and early 1800s. Some of these were moved in 1959 and 1960 when the Federal Highway Project forced the earliest section of the cemetery to relocate. These graves were relocated to the northeast part of the current Colonial Park cloverleaf. One of these graves include a young woman who was killed by Indians when the area was newly settled. We are chartered to provide an affordable, honorable and peaceful place of rest for the citizens of suburban Harrisburg. We focus on our services and products to meet the needs of our families that are grieving.
